A wet, windy and mild month.

Birds (seen or heard): Carrion Crows, Magpies, Jays, Buzzards, Black-headed Gulls, Tawny Owls, Sparrowhawk, Green/Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Wood Pigeons, Stock Doves, Nuthatches, Wrens, Treecreeper, Robins, Blackbirds, Goldcrest, Firecrest, Dunnocks, Greenfinches, Chaffinches, Goldfinches, Bullfinches, Blackcaps, Chiffchaffs, Siskins, Coal/Blue/Great/Long-tailed Tits, Stonechats.

Mammals: Grey Squirrels, Foxes, Hedgehog, Wood Mice.

Plants: Common Gorse, Catkins, Cotoneaster.

Fungi: Birch Polypore, Turkey Tail.

Insects: Wood Lice, Buff-tailed Bees .

Butterflies/Moths: Brimstone, Peacock, Red Admiral.

The first sighting of a Hedgehog was in the second week of the month.

No sightings of Tawny Owls in the nesting box so far.

Birds have been seen gathering nesting material throughout the month.

Quite a few reported sightings of Goldcrests and Firecrests.

On some mild sunny days, there was an abundance of Butterflies to be seen.

SITE MANAGEMENT

The monthly work party removed weakened fencing along the southern boundary of the Reserve pending the installation of a new, metal replacement.
