A very wet and stormy month at times.

SIGHTINGS
Birds(seen or heard): Common Gulls, Heron, Magpies, Jay, Buzzards, Sparrowhawks, Green/Great Spotted Woodpeckers Wood Pigeons, Stock Doves, Swifts (in flight over site), Robins, Blackbirds, Song Thrushes, Dunnocks, Goldfinches, Chaffinches, Bullfinches, Siskins, Stonechats, Blackcaps, Chiffchaffs, Wrens, Coal/blue/great/Long-tailed Tit.
Insects: Midges, Buff-tailed Bees, Mining Bees/Solitary Bees, Honey Bees, Marmalade Hoverfly, Ants, Stag Beetle, Wasp Beetle, Black spotted Longhorn, Ladybird larva, Five spot Ladybird.
Mammals: Roe Deer, Grey Squirrels, Mole activity, Wood Mice, Bank Vole, Pipistrelle Bats, Hedgehogs, Common Fox.
Reptiles: Common Lizard.
Fungi: Jelly Fungus.
Dragonfly/Damselfly: Small Red, Common Blue, Four Spot Chaser, Broad Bodied.
Butterflies/Moths: Large White, Speckled Wood, Holly Blue, Silver-studded blue.
Plants in flower/Berry: Celandine, Dandelion, Blackberries, Herb Robert, Common Cotton Grass, Cut-leaved Geranium.
Pond Life: Common Newts, Whirlygig Beetles.
The Tawny Owlets have relocated with their parents to an undiscovered location.
Juvenile Sparrowhawks were observed in Hazelwood West woodland.
Up to the end of the month, no Nightjar calling had been heard or reported.
No sightings of Tree Pipits reported.
Silver-studded Blue butterflies emerged in the last week of the month.

SITE MANAGEMENT
The work party held on 29th June cut back encroaching vegetation from pathways and the southern fence line. Birch regrowth along the main drainage ditch was trimmed and a new spring fixed on the gate accessing the heathland from the boardwalk.
