Overall a mild month, but very wet, turning colder in the last week with foggy mornings.

SIGHTINGS
Birds (seen or heard): Carrion Crows, Magpies, Jays, Buzzards, Black-headed Gulls, Herring Gulls, Tawny Owls, Sparrowhawk, Green/Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Wood Pigeons, Stock Doves, Nuthatch, Treecreepers, Wrens, Robins, Blackbirds, Goldcrest, Song Thrush, Dunnocks, Grey Wagtail, Greenfinches, Chaffinches, Firecrest, Goldfinches, Siskins, Stonechats, Coal/Blue/Great/Long-tailed Tits.
Mammals: Grey Squirrels, Foxes, Hedgehog.
Insects/Spiders: Species of Bees, Sheet-web Spiders, Funnel Spiders, Orb-web Spiders, Wood lice, Midges.
Butterflies: Peacock, Brimstone.
Plants in flower/berry: Holly, Ivy, Rowan, Oak Acorns, Cotoneaster.
Pond Life: Whirlygig Beetles, Pond Skaters.
Fungi: Postia Guttulata, Bolete Mould, Smoky Polypore, Hairy Bracket, Silverleaf Fungus, Snowy Inkcap, Liver Milkcap, Turkey Tail, Hintapink, Rosy Russula, Brown Roll Rim, Brown Birch-Bolete, False Chanterelle, Sulphur Tuft, Fly Agaric, Bay Bolete, Common, Rust-Gill, Scaly Rust-Gill, Fragrant Funnel, Cowpat Gem, Conifer Tuft, Spotted Toughshank, Brick Cap.
Fungi continued to flourish throughout the month, due to the mild damp weather.
Tawny Owls heard in the Hazelwood area, calling for mates.

NATURE FACT
The Brown Roll-Rim Fungi (Paxillus involutus) is found in mixed woodland and heathland. It is very common and highly poisonous.
